Showtime in September
"Tiny Dragonfly" 4" x 4" Acrylic on Canvas (Available) September is back to school month for my kids, and back to shows, creating art and doing the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge for myself. I've created a few tiny art pieces for the challenge so far, including the dragonfly (above) as well as the toad (below), I've had a lot of fun creating these miniatures and they did very well at the Art in the Park event. Blog Slacking!
Yup, I've done it again. It's been WAY too long since I've posted a blog. Kids are out of school, the weather is nice and sitting in front of a computer to write a post just hasn't been appealing to me. I feel like this iguana, basking in the sun and loving life. (He is a mixed media piece on paper) I happen to be at my Mother-in-law's house this weekendĀ and couldn't sleep well so I got up early and thought I'd write a quick post on my smartphone. The Keene Art Walk was great

Spring is Here??
"Curious and Curiouser" 9" x 12" Mixed Media on Watercolor Paper WOW! I missed posting the entire month of April! Shame on me. Also, shame on Mother Nature for the shoddy spring we are having! Here in New Hampshire and most of New England we have had a slow start to spring and now that it's officially here (flowers, green grass, leaves on trees) it's still super COLD! In two weeks we have had one sunny day...ONE! Enough! I need to see the sun, having fibromyalgia and having c

No space for artwork? Think again!
"Goofball" 9" x 12"mixed media on Canson paper I've had many people admire a piece of art and then proceed to tell me that they have no space to hang it and walk away. Maybe that's just a polite way of ending the conversation or maybe they haven't thought of the many places in your home that you can hang artwork other than your main rooms of the house. Of course we have bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms, kitchens, kids rooms, play rooms, guest rooms and stairways, but what abo

March Madness
HUNGRY EYES 9" x 12" Mixed Media on Canson Watercolor Paper Ok, this madness has nothing to do with basketball. At least I think basketball is the sport that is associated with that? Can you tell how much I love sports? This is more the madness that has ensued the past week and a half. After completing the "Get to know the Artist" challenge in February and the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge in January, I figured this month would be a little slower. As far as creating ar

The Final 7 - Thank goodness!
Well, I'm really struggling to come with 7 more things about me that matter...I can't really think of much. So instead of dragging this out for another week I'm going to just list the final 7 here and hopefully will have some new artwork to share with you this week. Podcasts Day 22 - I LOVE them. I listen to them for several hours a day. Going in the car? Podcast. Cleaning the house? Podcast. Exercising? Podcast. Creating some art? Podcast. You get the picture... I have a var

Family, Religion, Artist (duh), Humor, Sweet Tooth, and True Crime...
THIS IS ME... DAY 1 - I am a happily married, almost 40 year old mother of two girls. I have lived in New England my entire life. I love watching the seasons change and the natural beauty that surrounds me. I live in a wooded area that is home to many wild animals. My family and I love to watch movies, play board and card games, hike, kayak and walk the beach and play in the ocean on our annual seaside vacation. So here I am! Short hair and long...I go back and forth a lot. H

30 Paintings challenge is DONE!
Phew! This is the first time I've done the challenge that I've actually made 30 paintings. For me the trick was to paint smaller and plan ahead. Not all of these are what I would call winners but I did learn a lot with each piece I created so it was time well spent. All the paintings below are either mixed media or pastel. Some of them I created ahead of time so you may have seen them posted on facebook or instagram. As I mentioned in my last post I have a new challenge that

Starting out the New Year with a blog!
Okay, I'm a little late to say this is a New Year's resolution. Better late than never though right? I'm going to start this blog in an effort to showcase my art but also to help you get to know me a little better, which hopefully will be a good thing! I'm going to try to commit to one post per week, but if I can do a daily blog I will. Baby steps. Currently I'm participating in Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I'm struggling a little bit in creating a new p
